Isle of Dogs: a movie review by 9-year-old MissObservation

Hi everybody! Welcome! My name is Phoenix and today I’m going to be talking about the movie, “The Isle Of Dogs” and this is my dog, Kitsu and she’s going to help us. Overall I thought this movie was somewhere in between great, and pretty good.

So the reasons why I did like this movie is because it’s all about dogs of course, and I love dogs. And then, the second reason why I liked this movie is because there was this boy who really cared for and loved his dog, even though he wasn’t supposed to.

And some of the things that I did not like about this movie is that there was this mean president guy who wanted to kill all the dogs including the people who wanted to help the dogs. And another part that I didn’t like was that a lot of the movie was in subtitles and I couldn’t understand it because I couldn’t read fast enough. So my dad had to help me understand what was going in those parts.

So basically this movie is about a dog who gets sent away to trash island. And this dog’s owner, a little boy who really loved his dog, stole a plane and flew it to trash island so he could find his dog. Then these other dogs found the little boy and then they tried to help him find his dog. So, the journey that the boy and dog’s take is really beautiful because the background, the scenery, the illustration is really very beautiful. But on the way through their journey there’s some sad parts, some scary parts, and even some funny parts.

My only complaint with this movie is that this movie was supposed to take place in Japan and Shiba Inus are like one of the most popular dog’s in Japan. So, where were all the Shiba Inus? That was Kitsu’s biggest complaint too. Overall I thought this movie was in between great and pretty good. You might not want to take your little kids to see this movie just because it’s kind of hard to follow along with all the subtitles so they might not understand as well as normal movies.

So that’s the end of my review of the movie called, “Isle Of Dogs”. Thank you for watching. I’ll see you next time. Goodbye everybody!
